Abstract

The new sustainable development goals, approved by global leaders at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in 2015, reaffirms the critical need of instilling ESD principles at all levels of education. Education is reinforced as a crucial aim in the concrete 17 (SDGs) to help build a more sustainable, fair, and equal society. Additionally, the SDGs include several objectives and indicators of education. The study uses a qualitative approach. Qualitative descriptive research follows the purpose of the study to be carried out, to describe the suitability of learning tools for physics subjects with the spirit of education for sustainable development. From the analyzed lesson plans, information was obtained that the lesson plans that were created and used were not as expected, which wanted integration into education for sustainable development. More specifically, the competence of self-awareness is still minimal in facilitating students to reflect on their role in the local community and global society. Based on the study results, it can be concluded that the level of conformity of the lesson plan to the principles of education for sustainable development of physics teachers still ranges from 13% to 70%. The indicator that still needs a lot of attention from teachers in designing lesson plans is on the competence of students self-awareness.
