Professional Development and Support Systems for Special Education Teachers

Abstrak

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi pengembangan profesional dan sistem pendukung bagi guru sekolah dasar khusus dalam mengelola masalah pembelajaran perilaku di Madibeng, Distrik Bojanala. Literatur menunjukkan bahwa meskipun guru umumnya mendukung pendidikan inklusif, pelatihan yang tidak memadai, sumber daya yang terbatas, dan kekhawatiran tentang kemampuan mereka untuk mengelola perilaku yang menantang dapat membatasi inklusi yang efektif. Pendekatan penelitian kualitatif digunakan, dengan menggunakan wawancara satu lawan satu untuk mengumpulkan data dari 16 partisipan yang dipilih secara purposif yang terdiri dari empat guru, empat kepala sekolah, empat anggota Badan Pengelola Sekolah, dan empat Kepala Departemen. Temuan menunjukkan pergeseran positif dalam pemahaman guru tentang masalah pembelajaran perilaku sebagai respons terhadap hambatan dan kebutuhan yang tidak terpenuhi, bukan sekadar perilaku buruk. Namun, beberapa guru terus menganggap lingkungan khusus lebih tepat untuk siswa tertentu, yang mencerminkan tantangan yang terus berlanjut terkait sikap terhadap inklusi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pengembangan profesional dan dukungan berkelanjutan sangat penting untuk memperkuat pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan manajemen perilaku praktis guru. Rekomendasi ini mencakup pelatihan Dukungan Perilaku Positif di seluruh distrik, lokakarya wajib, kesempatan belajar antar rekan, pemantauan rutin terhadap sikap guru, dan program yang mendukung kesejahteraan emosional guru untuk mempromosikan pendidikan inklusif yang berkelanjutan dan bermakna.
