Penerapan Project-Based Learning dalam Meningkatkan Kompetensi Teknologi Pemesinan Computer Numerical Control Siswa SMK
Abstract
Mastery of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology requires theoretical understanding, practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork. However, in reality, learning in vocational high schools (SMK) is still insufficiently interactive, resulting in students being less active and not yet optimally developing the competencies required by industry. The aims of this study are: (1) descripe to apply Project-Based Learning in improving the CNC machining technology competence of students; and (2) to improve the students’ CNC machining technology competence through the implementation of Project-Based Learning. This study is classroom action research using Kemmis and Taggart model. The research was conducted in four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection, which were carried out in two cycles. The subjects of this study were Grade XII students in the Mechanical Engineering study program at SMK Negeri 2 Pengasih. The data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests and project assessments then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive statistics before drawing conclusions based on the research findings. The results of the study indicate that the Project-Based Learning model can improve the CNC Machining Technology competence of students. The results of observations showed increased student activity from 77.67% (cycle I) to 94.64% (cycle II), and teacher activity from 98.02% to 98.68%. Student completion rates rose from 60% to 82.36% with average test scores increasing from 77.66 to 81.37. Project results showed 85.71% completion with an average of 79.81, exceeding the 80% minimum standard.
