Implementasi Model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Memahami Teks Bahasa Inggris Peserta Didik
Abstract
The aim of the study was to observe the implementation of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) in improving the ability to understand English texts for students of the VII.2 class at SMP Negeri 12 Palembang, South Sumatra, in the academic year 2022/2023. This study is a type of Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in March and May 2023. The participants in this study were 35 students of the VII.2 class. The data in this study were collected through test and observation instruments, then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and percentages on the test. Based on the study results, it is known that the implementation of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) is very well applied in learning because it improves students' learning outcomes in understanding English texts. This is indicated by an increase in test results from the initial condition (pre-cycle), namely 34.29% to 57.14% in cycle I (an increase of 22.85%) and increased again in cycle II to 85.71% (an increase of 28.58%). In addition, changes in the positive attitude of students can also be seen from the results of observations by participating actively in the learning process, focusing on and taking notes on English text material, asking questions, being more responsible and cooperative, and feeling happier of participating in the learning process. Thus, the implementation of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) improves the ability to understand English text for students of the VII.2 class at SMP Negeri 12 Palembang, South Sumatra, in the academic year 2022/2023.
