Penerapan Pendekatan STEM Berbantuan IFP untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar IPAS di Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

Low learning outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS), particularly on the topics of magnetism, electricity, and technology, remain a challenge among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Badran. Teacher-centered instruction has limited students’ active participation, resulting in learning achievement that has not met the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP). This study aimed to improve students’ IPAS learning outcomes through the implementation of a STEM approach assisted by an Interactive Flat Panel (IFP). This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 14 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Badran, Yogyakarta. Data were collected through observations and learning achievement tests. The STEM approach was implemented using the Engineering Design Process (EDP) stages: ask, imagine, plan, create, and improve, supported by the IFP and PhET Colorado simulations. The findings revealed that the STEM approach assisted by IFP effectively improved students’ IPAS learning outcomes. The percentage of students achieving the KKTP increased from 21.43% in the pre-cycle to 64.28% in Cycle I and 78.57% in Cycle II. This result exceeded the predetermined success indicator of 75% of students achieving the KKTP. In addition, the implementation of STEM assisted by IFP enhanced students’ active participation, collaboration skills, and learning motivation.

Wuri Indriyaningsih adalah mahasiswa program studi S2 Pendidikan Dasar Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, yang juga pendidik di SD Negeri Badran Yogyakarta. Minat penelitiannya berpusat pada penerapan pendekatan STEM. Pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran, dan tentang digitalisasi pembelajaran.

Dr. Woro Sri Hastuti, S.Pd., M.Pd. adalah dosen dan peneliti tetap di Departemen Pendidikan Sekolah Dasar, Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan dan Psikologi, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). Beliau menyelesaikan studi doktoralnya di bidang Pendidikan Dasar dan kini aktif mengajar pada program sarjana (S1 PGSD) serta pascasarjana (S2 Pendidikan Dasar) di UNY. Sebagai pakar di bidang Desain Pembelajaran IPA Sekolah Dasar, fokus penelitiannya meliputi pengembangan media pembelajaran, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), dan inovasi perangkat instruksional dasar.
