This study uses a classroom action research method. The research procedure used is a model developed by Kemis and Taggait which consists of planning, action, observation and reflection activities. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA 5 at SMAN 1 Bantul in the academic year 2019/2020, totaling 32 students. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of 2 meetings. Research data obtained from observations and interviews. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis technique. The implementation of problem based learning in cycle I was 80, 5%, and in cycle II was 86%. Based on the results of observations, the value of students’ investigative ability in the first cycle was 69.41 with low criteria, increased in the second cycle to 85.06, with good criteria. The scientific attitude of students also increased from 73.57, with sufficient criteria in cycle I, to 86.74 with good criteria in cycle II.
